Smiles, laughter and happiness filled the air as parents, teachers, school leaders and partnership members came together to celebrate the official opening of Ohana Cove on the 2nd of May, 2014.
The event started with a presentation of the FamilyMatters@Pioneer programmes by Mdm Nur Ain, Subject Head of Community Involvement and Partnership. Guests were then ushered to the Ohana Cove where they witnessed the officially opening ceremony. Mrs Linda Phee, a member of the School Advisory Committee officially opened Ohana Cove by switching on the beautiful fairy lights at the entrance. This was followed by cheers and explosive sounds of the party poppers.
For any parenting programme in school to be effective and successful, we need the partnership of four groups of people- the government, the school, the parents as well as the children. To symbolize these four groups of people, our principal- Mrs Cheng, Ms Dawn Ng from Ministry of Family and Social Development, Mdm Sabriah Meluru- chairman of Parent Support Group and her son Harris, did a clay handprint which will be mounted together as a symbol of the partnership. Lastly, the guests of honour leave their thumbprints on the tree of life.
After the opening ceremony, all guests had the opportunity to have a tour around the room as well as looking at the various displays featuring past programmes and activities.
